Olga and Alexander Florensky (Olga Florenskaya, Alexander Florensky)
ALEXANDER FLORENSKY (born: 1960) and OLGA FLORENSKAYA (born: 1960) graduated from the Mukhina College of Art and Design (Leningrad) in 1982. One of the founders of MITKI artist group (1985). The members of the Russian artist's Union (1998). In 1990 were trained at the INSTITUT DES HAUTES ETUDES EN ARTS PLASTIQUES (director: Pontus Hulten). Artists work in different fields of art: painting, graphics, book illustration, sculpture, ceramics and animation. The authors of animated films "MITKIMAYER" (1992), "RUSSIAN ALBUM" (2001) and "TROPHY FILMS" (2004). Have taken part in a large number of film festivals, both in Russia and abroad (1993-2002). The founders of MITKILIBRIS publishing house.
Alexander Florensky Ц one of the founders and curator of "MITKI-VHUTEMAS "art center in St. Petersburg, in 2003-2004 Ц chief artist and curator of "ADRESA PETERBURGA" magazine. In 2004 he had organized (together with Ivan Sotnikov) the "PAINTING AND DRAWING SOCIETY". Since 2006 Alexander Florensky is the head of contemporary art department in "TSARSKOSELSKY COLLECTION" state museum.
Works by O&A Florensky are in the collections of the following museums: the State Russian Museum and State Hermitage (St Petersburg), the State Tretyakov Picture Gallery (Moscow), the Pushkin Fine Art Museum (Moscow) and many art museums in Russia (Yaroslavl, Tver, Omsk, Arkhangelsk, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad, Ivanovo, Saratov, Sochi, Kursk etc), in KIASMA and Helsinki City Art Museum (Helsinki) and Victoria & Albert museum (London), collection of Hand Print Studio International, Washington, DC, art collection of the GRAND VALLEY State University (USA)
Since 1994 O&A. Florensky have been working together on big joint projects ("MOVEMENT TOWARDS IYE", "MOVEABLE BESTIARY", "LOCAL TIME", "RUSSIAN TROPHY", "RUSSIAN PATENT", "UNIVERSAL MUSEUM OF WILHELM WINTER", etc.). Artists live and work in St Petersburg.
